our history
Arthur “Art” Malone, founder, owner, and Master Plumber of Malone's Plumbing & Heating, Inc., built a distinguished career defined by determination, craftsmanship, and community impact.
However, his path into the plumbing industry was marked by significant challenges. After applying for a plumbing apprenticeship in 1958, he was placed on a waiting list and encountered barriers rooted in racial discrimination. His experience became part of a broader investigation into discriminatory apprenticeship practices, leading to his testimony before the Wisconsin Judiciary Committee.
As a result of his perseverance and advocacy, Art made history in 1964 as the first African American plumbing apprentice in the State of Wisconsin.
After his passing in 2017, his stepson continued operations, carrying forward the values and standards Art initially established. In 2026, ownership transitioned to the next generation, with Art's grandson becoming the owner.
Today, Malone's Plumbing & Heating, Inc. remains a family-owned business, proudly continuing the legacy of service, craftsmanship, and community commitment that began in 1973.
